It's Driving the Whales Loco

Every once in a while, a random comment burrows into your brain and refuses to leave until it’s stitched into fabric. That’s exactly what happened when I overheard a remark about how wind power might be affecting nature. I’m not here to get political, but the image of slightly unhinged whales was too weird and wonderful to ignore.

Naturally, that meant one thing: time for a new embroidery hoop.

Last night I whipped up a custom 6" design featuring the phrase “It’s Driving the Whales LOCO.” It felt perfectly absurd and perfectly Hooplethreads. I used this as an opportunity to stretch my design muscles, creating my own pattern by combining ChatGPT (thanks, AI pal) with several Adobe Illustrator tutorials—specifically, the magical phrase: "Text on a Path."

Every stitch I take is part of this ongoing Hooplethreads journey. I'm learning as I go, experimenting, getting inspired by everyday oddities, and trying to bring a little humor and handmade charm to the world.

While I’m still waiting on some paperwork before I officially open shop, I couldn’t wait to share this latest creation. Consider it a preview of what’s to come: hand-embroidered goods with a wink, a smirk, and a touch of New England coastal whimsy.
